Mariana, a young provincial woman, arrives in Rio de Janeiro looking for her fiancé and is taken in by her cousins, “Baiano”, a bus driver and his sister Elisa, a fan of radio serials. Mariana confesses that she is pregnant by the man who said his name was José da Silva.
