Regulations

Work session at the Institute for advanced study

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Project has to be a feature length film in the development stage.
  • Project has to be a fiction feature film (TV films not accepted, feature documentaries accepted only for the Agadir PAS workshop).
  • Project has to last 60 minutes minimum.
  • The producer must already have some experience in production (short films, TV films, audiovisual programme…).
  • No previous experience in international coproduction is required from the producer.
  • At the time of application, the budget must not exceed 30% of the overall film budget.
  • Project must be introduced by a producer and a director duo (a director cannot be his own producer).
  • The full script or an extended treatment (25-30 pages) is requested in the case of selection.
  • A production company can apply only one project at a time for a workshop.
  • A production company can apply two times in a row with the same project if it meets the previous criteria.
  • Applications must be completed in English.

Nantes PAS Workshop

Conditions of eligibility

Nantes Produire au Sud workshop selects six fiction feature projects in development coming from Africa, Latin America and Asia.

  • The producer and the director must each come from at least one country of the three continents.
  • In case of dual citizenship, the country taken into consideration is the one linked to the three continents.

Conditions of participation

  • Transportation and accommodation expenses are covered by Produire au Sud organization.
  • A part of catering expenses is covered by Produire au Sud organization.
  • A participation of 200 euros per person is required for administrative costs.

Agadir PAS Workshop

Conditions of eligibility

  • The workshop only accepts documentary features film projects in development.
  • Projects from the following countries are eligible for this workshop: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo .
  • In case of dual citizenship, the country taken into consideration is the one linked to one of the countries enlisted above.

Conditions of participation

  • Transportation and accommodation expenses are covered by FIDADOC/Produire au Sud organizations.
  • A part of catering expenses is covered by FIDADOC and Produire au Sud organizations.

Bangkok PAS Workshop · SEAFICxPAS

Durban PAS Workshop · Jumpstart

Kolkata PAS Workshop · KoPRO/PAS

Conditions of eligibility

  • Projects from the following countries are eligible for this workshop: India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives.
  • In case of dual citizenship, the country taken into consideration is the one linked to one of the countries enlisted above.

Conditions of participation

  • A participation fee of 30.000 INR (340 euros) per person is required by the organization.
  • Transportation and accommodation expenses are the responsibility of the participants.
  • A part of catering expenses is covered by KoPRO/PAS organization.

Sderot PAS Workshop · Studio Darom

Conditions of eligibility

  • Projects from Israel are eligible for this workshop.

Conditions of participation

  • A participation fee of 200 euros per person is required for administrative costs in case of selection. This amount is not refunded even in the event of cancellation.
  • Transportation and accommodation expenses are covered by the Festival Cinema South of Sderot.
  • A part of catering expenses is covered by the Festival Cinema South of Sderot.

Taipei PAS Workshop

Conditions of eligibility

  • Projects from Taiwan are eligible for this workshop.

Conditions of participation

  • A part of catering expenses is covered by the Taipei Film Festival.

COMMITMENT OF THE PARTICIPANTS

In case of selection to one of Produire au Sud workshops, directors and producers agree to:

  • Keep the Produire au Sud team posted about the production process of the film.
  • Insert Produire au Sud logo (downloadable below) into the film credits as well as the following mention: “The producer and the director of this film have benefited from the Produire au Sud workshop expertise in (year of selection). Produire au Sud is the professional program of the Festival des 3 Continents – Nantes (France)”.
  • Apply the final version of the film to the dedicated application form.

Documents required

By the producer:

  • A CV of the producer and the production company
  • A short bio of the producer (10 lines)
  • A photo of the producer
  • A cover letter from the producer specifying his·her interest in Produire au Sud and the project he·she is presenting

By the director:

  • The director’s CV including his·her filmography
  • A short bio of the director (10 lines)
  • A photo of the director
  • A director’s statement of intent specifying the narrative and cinematographic aims of the project
  • Previous work(s) of the director (Vimeo links preferably)

  • A synopsis (1 page maximum)
  • A treatment (10 pages maximum)
  • A provisional budget
  • A financing plan (which must present a balanced amount, equivalent to the budget, and must mention finances already in place)
  • A technical data sheet (film format, technical and artistic staff…)
  • A production schedule
  • A photo to illustrate the project

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • The selection announcement is announced on the website of the Festival des 3 Continents.
  • All workshops are given in English.
