The Wound

by Yılmaz ARSLAN

Hülya a young Turkish girl, torn between two cultures, lives against her will at her uncle’s place in Turkey.

Hülya runs away from her uncle’s house. She wants to return to Germany where she lived with her father and went to school only a short time ago. The tragic heroine Hülya leads us to a magical oriental odyssey through Turkey. On this journey she meets different people who rescue her life, sometimes in the last minute. She ends up in prison and finally in a psychiatrie hospital. In this hospital time and personal needs of the heroine have ceased to exist.

All of a sudden Hülya’s family appears and even her german girl friend who has organized this meeting in the hospital. Hülya is discharged and can return to Germany. In Germany, however, the heroine’s odyssey rapidly proceeds to its end with her final loss of identity.
