A young and simple couple lives in an Osaka district. Hatsunosuke works as a stockbroker while Michiyo looks after the house. Five years after they got married, their life seems quite monotonous. Michiyo is bored. One day they are visited by their niece, Satoko, who escaped from her parents’ home. The presence of the young woman at their place stirs Michiyo’s heart. She demands that her niece leave and decides to go back to her own mother to think over her marriage. She looks for a job so that she can live on her own. Eventually, as her husband joins her, they reconcile and return to their house toqether.
