Java 1942. A prisoner-of-war camp during World War Two where English soldiers are held by the Japanese. Captain Yonoï runs the camp, assisted by Sergeant Gengo Hara. Colonel John Lawrence, a bilingual Englishman, acts as a go-between for the Japanese and the English. At the trial of Major Jack Celliers, Captain Yonoï allows the major to escape execution and to remain a prisoner in the camp. Tis leads to a game of opposition and attraction. A story of love and taboos. A human story of codes to go beyond and to break, performed with great skill by the group of actors.
