Thursday : Fujio Rika is an attractive 24-year-old woman. Out of the blue, her boyfriend, Ono Seiichi, a trader, breaks off their relationship. Shocked by his unexpected rejection, Rika gets drunk. In utter despair, she makes a series of random calls on her cellphone. One of her calls reaches Kono Shingo, a 29-year-old film distributor who is at home composing a letter of resignation over the direction of a film advertising campaign. He listens with compassion as Rika releases the torrent of her humiliation. Soothed by his kindness, Rika falls asleep with the phone still in her hand.
Friday : Delivering his letter, Kono resigns. Rika broods at home, nursing her wounded pride. Saturday : Determined to confront her ex-boyfriend, Rika visits Ono’s apartment. When Sayoko, another young woman, answers the door, she retreats in confusion, stumbling into Ono on her way out of the building. Ono reiterates his scorn and accuses her of loving only herself.
