Suni is an orphan girl adopted by the mother of young Hyunbo. At 17, she marries him and they live happily together in the middle of the forest until she is noticed by a forest patrolman who tries to seduce her. With this objective, he arrests Hyunbo on false accusations. Chilsong, a friend of Hyunbo, invites Suni to his place for protection. She refuses, prefering to wait for her husband alone. The patrolman tries again to seduce her. She takes his weapon and tries to kill him in the struggle. Freed at long last, Hyunbo returns home and finds only his wife’s ring and the coocoo’s song she loved.
