After breaking out of prison, “La Gringa” is about to flee to Ecuador with his wife. On his first night out of prison he gets arrested and sent to a high-security jail. There he meets a teacher charged with terrorism. “La Gringa” starts writing his experience of life in prison and the teacher proofreads his texts. They become great friends. One day, encouraged by a warden, a mad prisoner attempts to murder “La Gringa” whose life is saved by the teacher. La Gringa” escapes again and leaves the teacher behind. While hiding in Lima he hears the teacher is becoming mad. He decides to go back to the prison to help the teacher escape.
