“Captain” Gaudino’s gang of cangaceiros (outlaws) spread terror through the Nordeste caatinga. Maria Cláudia, a schoolteacher, is kidnapped during a raid and falls in love with the peaceful Teodoro. The strength of their love creates a conflict within the gang.
