Nicolás Rincón Gille was born in Bogota and began to focus on cinema when he joined the Institut Supérieur des Arts in Belgium. His poetic and political trilogy, Campo Hablado, dedicated to the oral tradition of Colombian rural folk and their way of coping with violence, comprises En lo escondido (2007), Los Abrazos del río (Montgolfière d’or at Festival des 3 Continents 2010) and Noche herida. The Valley of Souls is his first fiction film.
