Marcos Pimentel

Degree in documentary film-making from Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV – Cuba) and post graduation course in Documentary Cinema from Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, in Germany. Degree in Social Communication from Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) and a degree in Psychology from Center for Higher Education of Juiz de Fora (CES-JF). Director, screenwriter and independent producer, Marcos Pimentel has made creative documentaries for cinema, video and television, has won 85 prizes at national and international film festivals and has had his work exhibited at over 500 festivals all over the world.

Currently he is a director of CINEPORT – Festival de Cinema de Países de Língua Portuguesa (Film Festival of Portuguese-Speaking Countries), where he also coordinates an audiovisual cooperation network among young lusophones involved in the field. Since 2009, he has been a professor in the documentary department at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños (San Antonio de los Baños International School of Film and Television – EICTV – Cuba).

He lives and works in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. “Sopro” [Breath]is his first full-length creative documentary.
