As part of the cultural program for May 10, the National Day of Remembrance of the Slave Trade, Slavery, and their Abolitions, the Festival of the 3 Continents, Mémoire de l’Outre-mer, and Le Cinématographe have joined forces to invite you to discover the film FRANTZ FANON by Abdenour Zahzah.

In the context of the Algerian uprising, the young doctor Frantz Fanon listens, treats, and works to dismantle the racist and alienating healthcare practices. Based on clinical notes written by Fanon and numerous testimonies, Abdenour Zahzah’s biopic paints a well-documented portrait, weaving together the figures of the doctor and the anti-colonial activist.

Screening presented by the Festival des 3 Continents, in partnership with Mémoire de l’Outre-Mer, MRAP, and the Maison des Citoyens du Monde. In attendance: Hervé Inial, ethnopsychiatrist.

In addition to the screening, a roundtable discussion entitled “The Relevance of Frantz Fanon Today” will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Jules Vallès room, offering an in-depth look at Fanon’s life and work.

The discussion will be moderated by historian Christophe Patillon, with Jacques Vénuleth (MRAP) and Dr. Hervé Inial, psychiatrist, in attendance. Free admission, open to all.

The Festival des 3 Continents and the Yves Laurent Media Library (Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire) invite you to discover Pushing Hands, the first feature film by Taiwanese director Ang Lee, a filmmaker honored at the last edition of the festival.

PUSHING HANDS, Ang Lee · Fiction · Taiwan/United States · 1h45 · 1991 Mr. Chu, an elderly tai chi master, struggles to adapt to his new life in New York, where he has followed his son, Alex, who married Martha, an American. Through his tai chi teachings, he finds a way to build a connection with his adopted country.

The screening will be introduced by Léa Leboucq, from the Festival des 3 Continents.

As part of the “1,2,3 Solidarity and Access to Rights” day, coordinated by the West Neighborhoods Department, the Festival of the 3 Continents is offering a free public screening to kick off the day.

One evening in Paris, two Indian women from Kerala, strangers to each other, find themselves in the Sulaimani Indian restaurant. Seated a few meters apart, they observe one another, intrigued. In this miniature Kerala that is the restaurant, the smells, the flavors, the music, the language – everything evokes the India of their past. Each revisits her journey of displacement and emancipation during this symbolic voyage filled with memories.

The screening will be introduced by Léa Leboucq, from the Festival of the 3 Continents.
