Parasathu Mal marks Gamini Fonseka’s directorial debut. He also takes on the lead role, displaying the full range of his talent both behind and in front of the camera. The story follows Bonny, a man born into a family of aristocratic landowners, accustomed to getting whatever he desires. His world moves to the rhythm of music, fine wine and pleasure. A notorious playboy, he drifts from one fleeting romance to the next. Yet amid all his indulgences, one exception remains: Kamala. No matter how often he falls in and out of love, his feelings for her remain steadfast — she is the still point in his spinning world. But Kamala is unmoved by Bonny’s charm, wealth or relentless advances. Her heart belongs not to the powerful landowner, but to Sirisena, a humble worker under Bonny’s own command.
