Mamadou Khouma Gueye, writer, filmmaker, and mentor, was born in Thiaroye Gare, Senegal. He holds a degree in History from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. Before becoming a filmmaker, he was an activist advocating for access to cinema in Dakar’s suburbs. He champions art for all, addressing complex sociopolitical realities. His short films Kedougou (Grand Prize, Saint Louis Docs; Bronze Tanit, 2017) and Xaar Yallà (Jury Prize, FESPACO 2023) have received multiple awards. His first feature documentary, Attachment, is competing at Visions du Réel 2025. Founder of Ciné-Banlieue (2008–2013) and Plan B Films Senegal (2015), he also launched the Taste of Salt project, dedicated to film education and organizing festivals at Lac Rose.
