Nicolas Graux grew up in Binche, a small town in Belgium’s former mining region. His work, oscillating between documentary and fiction, focuses on lives lived on the margins and on the gestures of everyday life, with a patient and poetic gaze. His first feature film, Century of Smoke (2019), premiered at Visions du Réel before screening at numerous international festivals.
