Suçuarana. An incantatory word, traced on the back of a photo that Dora had got from her mother, showing a verdant valley. A caption that she clings on to and which has driven her to travel alone for many years along the roads and paths of Minas Gerais, searching for this elsewhere, without really knowing its location. Guided by a providential dog, the young woman discovers other existences, other possibilities. Starting with a minimal plot, this magnetic road movie, as captivating as the songs running through it, subtly unfolds on a territory marked by iron-ore mining — an activity that shapes both the landscape and human destinies. Dora’s destiny seems to be to embody movement as a life force, a capacity for resilience but also the possibility of building relationships. Movement towards the other, towards oneself, towards existence. Again, and again.
