La boîte à malice

This short film programme directed by Koji Yamamura opens with a series of everyday moments shared by two little birds, Karo and Piyobuputo. Through onomatopoeias and playful associations of ideas, they spark the viewer’s imagination. With an eclectic style inspired by surrealism, the filmmaker blends different techniques, from 2D drawing to clay animation.
Kipling Junior tells the story of a young puppy living in the countryside with his parents who, enchanted by a wandering brass band, leaves his family home to follow it to the city. A brief fable of emancipation, the film follows a character venturing into the unknown.
The programme ends with What Is Your Choice?, created during a workshop involving groups of children from the United States and Japan. A patchwork of moments, ideas and emotions, its narrative thread surprises and unsettles.
