Still accompanied by his simple-minded disciple, Leung Fung, and his aunt Yee to whom he vows a platonic love, Wong Fei-Hung travels to Guangzhou to attend a scientific conference. He discovers a city on the brink of chaos in the throes of turmoil created by the White Lotus sect, a group of fanatical nationalists. Helplessly caught up in the tumult, he is soon trapped in a political conspiracy. Even more explosive on both the political and aesthetic levels, Once Upon a Time in China II pushes the choreographic precision of the fights to its limit. Maxime Martinot
