In 1942-1943, Indian rice merchants took the opportunity of the World War II and created a famine in Bengal by hoarding rice in godowns. Millions died. Those who could survive by shifting to towns always thought of coming back to their villages during a good harvest. Such a family is Jaigun’s one.
