As part of the France-Brazil Season, in partnership with the Institut français, the Festival des3 Continents is offering a unique Brazilian stopover in August 2025, through the programme ‘Nous, Cosmopolites’ (We, Cosmopolitans), presented in three major cultural venues:
Curitiba – Museu da Imagem e do Som: 16 to 19 August 2025
Rio de Janeiro – Museu de Arte Moderna: 21 to 24 August 2025
Brasília – Cine Brasília: 25 to 28 August 2025
Based on the thematic programme of the 46th edition of the Festival des 3 Continents (2024), this programme continues a committed reflection on the renewal of French cinema, highlighting stories told by a diverse urban youth, often from immigrant backgrounds, and rooted in contemporary social realities.
The screenings will be presented by Jérôme Baron, artistic director of the Festival des 3 Continents, who will accompany the tour in Brazil and introduce each film to share its artistic, historical and political significance.
Through ten works – fiction and documentaries, from 1961 to 2024 – ‘Nous, Cosmopolites’ offers a reinterpretation of French cinema from its margins: from the working-class neighbourhoods of Île-de-France to French Guiana on the border with Brazil, via social struggles, colonial legacies and mixed identities.
The programme, rooted in the dynamic of the Festival des 3 Continents, which strives to promote dialogue between often overlooked film industries, invites Brazilian audiences to discover other aspects of French cinema through these multifaceted screenings.
