“Falato”means orphan in bambara. A governor of humble origins looks back on his childhood. When his parents die, he is taken in by a family who make him do all the dirty work. One day, he is unjustly accused of stealing and finds himself on the street where he could easily become a delinquent. An encounter with a little girl will help him understand the importance of going to school. He attends classes from outside, listening at the window. One day the school teacher invites him into the classroom and adopts him, but there are other ordeals in store for him…
