2014 marked the beginning of an exciting new collaboration between Cinema South Festival in Sderot, Israel, and Les 3 Continents Film Festival in Nantes, France – As a new “Produire Au Sud” workshop for aspiring young Israeli talents in film was established in Sderot.
Produire Au Sud, translate into Studio Darom (South) in Hebrew – captures in its title the essence of our southern festival and film school – that of the “South” as a state of mind; a flow of consciousness; an endless ground for artistic expression and inspiration.
For the past 6 years, “Studio Darom” has been taking place against this desert backdrop, each year brining forth new and promising teams of Israeli directors and producers, willing to allow the group of talented international mentors to help them bring their films closer to realization.
We are so happy to see, in recent years, our alumni as they succeed in bringing their films to completion and to wonderful accomplishments in global festivals and platforms.
Cinema South Festival and the School of Audio and Visual Arts at Sapir College, alongside our partners at the French Institute of Tel Aviv – cherish this unique workshop, and the opportunity it allows rising Israeli talents to make their important cinematic voices heard.
