For the last several years, the association LES 3 CONTINENTS has sought to focus not only on the organization of a unique event called FESTIVAL DES 3 CONTINENTS (for more detail:see The Festival), even though the festival continues to be the major and the most prestigious event organized by the association.

Also:

• Since 2000, it has developed international co-production training workshops that are held in the city of Nantes (during the Festival) and since 2004 also abroad (in partnership with other international film festivals) under the generic title PRODUIRE AU SUD

• Since 2005, it is responsible for coaching professionals and guests at the PAVILLON LES CINEMAS DU MONDE (ex Pavilion "Les Cinémas du Sud") at the Cannes Film Festival and Cannes Film Market, at the behest of the French Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs, (from 2006 to 2008) and in partnership with Culturesfrance as of 2009

• Since 2006, it has been managing a system of direct aid for the production of short films from Sub-Saharan Africa (FACMAS).
  Since 2007, it contributes to the implementation and management of the new EU-ACP Support Program for the ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific Group States) cinema and audiovisual sector created and funded by the Secretariat of the ACP and the European Commission in Brussels.

• Finally, all through the year, it also programs various events which present films coming from the southern hemisphere (previews, thematic programs, retrospectives and carte blanches...), that create ongoing opportunities to favor exchanges between professionals coming from these southern countries and its audience. In addition it develops throughout the year, various audience awareness programs (specially focused on public school pupils and special needs groups) and decentralized regional screenings.

This diversification of activities conducted by the Association LES 3 CONTINENTS has provided:

• a better visibility and recognition of the overall support given to the cinema of the South and professionals involved

• a systematic and regular presence of the association during key cinematographic and audiovisual events

• a reinforcement of the Festival's authority, as it is now perceived as a promotional showcase and the outcome of a more wide-ranging effort carried out throughout the years

• a better perception of the FESTIVAL DES 3 CONTINENTS as a true networking and programming upshot conducted throughout the year by the organizing team

• an identity and geographical identification to the city of Nantes, to its Département (Loire-Atlantique) and its region, which lead through the association a joint subsidized global support program for cinemas of the South.
