Fonds Sud Cinéma concerns all countries in Africa, Latin America, the Near and Middle East (except Israel, Turkey, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates), and Asia (except Korea, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan), along with the following Central and European countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, Macedonia, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan.

Sundance festival supports a project a year from the USA, Japan, latin America and Europe, with its NHK Award program. The american festival is followed by a session in Asia which supports independant asian movies. This program has already supported movies like Central do Brasil, Osama, Whisky andTaxidermia.

The Berlin International Film Festival has set up the World Cinema Fund to support filmmakers from transition countries. Until 2007, the geographical focus has been on Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. In From summer 2007, film projects from South East Asia and the Caucasus will also be eligible for support from the WCF.
