Synopsis: Survived a tragic accident, Ah Nien is suffering a severe mental disorder and memory dislocation. His family have decided to bring him home and try to cure him with their own imaginative methods. His return has initially spawned havocs to all the family members and bred even more emotional withdrawal and isolation for everyone. In the end, Ah Nien remains uncured, but the journey of trying to cure him has finally pulled the disorientated family together.
“Singing Tombstone” is a feature-length film project designed for theatrical release and film festivals. It will be shot in Mandarin with English subtitles. Production is scheduled to commence in mid-2008 and expected to finish early in 2009. This film deliberately turns its back on mainstream narrative to offer a fresher cinematic experience. Ngui Ing Yant left the film industry in Kuala Lumpur and returned to his humble home state of Sarawak to pursue his passion for independent filmmaking. A writer and director himself, he is also learning the craft of film marketing as a producer.
Founder of the Sarawak Film Society, he aims to promote alternative cinema culture to the mainstream audience in his country.

With a bachelor degree in Broadcasting and Film Studies, Margaret BONG has written, produced and directed many award-winning short films: in 2005 “Lie Beneath” was shown in festivals in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, while “Tudtu”», her latest short has been shown in Malaysia, South Korea, Italy, Brazil and Lebanon
Now she has stepped up a gear by tackling “Singing Tombstone”, her feature directorial debut.
