Kazakhstan - 2000
Maneken Pil received a grant from the Fonds Sud. The project resulted in an international co-production agreement between Kadam-T, a Kazakhstan production company and Abderrahmane Sissako’s company Duo-Films, which has since become Cinenomad.

Nariman Turebayev was born in 1970 in Kazakhstan, in the then Soviet Union.
He received a degree from the Kazakhstan Academy of Arts and rapidly applied himself in the cinema. He directed two short films: Romantica and Antiromantica, before being invited for the first time to Producing in the South.
In 2001, his project Maneken Pil was granted development aid by Cinefoundation. In order to consecrate himself fully to his screenplay, he delegated pre-production of the film to another company. |
