China - 2004
Synopsis: One day, an unexpected fax forces Lianzi to rush back to her native village to move her father's grave. The return to her village is for Lianzi an opportunity to look back on her past. Suddenly she discovers why, more than 20 years later, she still finds it hard to accept her father's death. The other members of the family, for their part, would rather he had never been born.

how Keung was born in 1966 in Hong Kong.
After studying anthropology and sociology in Hong Kong and obtaining an MA in Communication in New York, he worked for the Hong Kong Art Centre and the Hong Kong Film Critics Society.
He took part, among other projects, in the production of Platform (Montgolfière d'or at the Festival des 3 Continents 2000,Venice Competition 2001), Unknown pleasures (Cannes Competition 2003), The world (Venice Competition 2004) and Still life (Gold Lion in Venice 2006) by Jia Zhang-ke, Love Will tear us apart (Cannes Competition 2000) and All tomorrow's party (Un Certain Regard, Cannes 2003) by Yu Lik-wai.
Together with Jia Zhang-ke and Yu Lik-wai he founded stream pictures, a company based in Hong Kong and Beijing where he produces films by young directors. |

Emily Tang studied literature at Beijing University. She then went on to register as a studennt at the Central Academy for Drama where she obtained her MA in film and theatre production.
In 2001 her first film, Conjugation, was selected at the Locarno competition (Special Distinction by the Jury) and at the Festival des 3 Continents.
Lianzi is her second full-length film.
