Renate Costa was born in 1981. In 2000, she co-directed her first short film Asu, a project that she also wrote and produced. She is gaining experience as a producer, working for the company, Maneglia-Schembori realizadores. La Santa is co-produced by the French production company, Quo Vadis. |

In 1987, Tana Schembori and Juan Carlos Maneglia co-directed their first short film, Presos. Since then their collaborations have received numerous prizes. Artefacto de primera necesidad and Amor Basora were selected for The Woman’s Film Festival in Créteil, France in 2002. La Santa is their first feature length film, and the most ambitious film d’auteur to date in their country. They have received grant money from Fondec, the unique state funding mechanism in Paraguay for cultural projects.
