Cristian Castro Fernandez is a major figure in the recent Escuela de Cine in Chile.

Carga Vital (2002), was his first production effort and was directed by Sebastian Campos. The screenplay was orginally intended for a feature length. But for financial reasons, to be shot on 35 mm, it had to be cut back to 22 minutes in length.

Cristian Castro then co-produced a full length film, Pagino Cinco, shot in 16 mm. It was a collaboration with the students at The Chilean School of Cinema.

In 2002, Sebastian Campos directed his first film Carga vital.

In 2005-2006, he directed La sagrada familia which was selected in many festivals.
