The lady of the images

Synopsis: During the 1950s Brazil witnessed a miracle. The country's most important art museums opened their halls to unknown artists that were not present at the opening of the exhibitions. Many critics declared that those exhibits revealed painters who should be ranked among the greatest Brazilian artists of the XXth century. But they didn't know this artists were all schizophrenics from the poor and abandoned Psychiatric Hospital where Dra. Nise da Silveira was directing one of the most deep and astonishing experiences of the XXth. Century.étonnantes du XXe siècle.

Graduated in Economics in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Letier began working in cinema in 1997, producing commercials and video clips.

From 1999 to 2002 he worked with director Murilo Salles at the production company Cinema Brasil Digital, where he produced his first feature, Murilo's Seja o que Deus quiser and a documentary.

In 2002 he created the Cinema Department at TvZERO, Roberto Berliner's production company.

In 2004 TvZERO released its first full lenght documentary, Lingua ­ Vidas em Portugues, directed by Victor Lopes.

La Senhora das imagens is TvZERO's first feature.

Roberto Berliner was born in 1957. He graduated in social communication, major in journalism through the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and started working in films and videos in 1978.

For 8 years, Roberto directed a production company called Antevê, dedicated to musical documentaries.

In 1988, he directed the documentary Angola, which received prizes from the Festivals of Belfort and Fototica Vídeo (Brazil).

In 1993 he founded TvZERO, today one of the most known companies in Brazil. His awards winning works in Brazil and abroad include the documentary series Street sounds(1997), the awarded short You are what you are born for (1999) and Turning the inner side (2002).

His first documentary feature Born to be blind was released in theaters in Brasil in 2005 and today he is dedicating his time to some new episodes of the series Street sounds" and developping his first feature The lady of the images, based upon the life and work of the Dr. Nise da Silveira.
