Argentina - 2003
Synopsis: A journalist investigates a strange series of suicides, all the while assisted by a young photographer. Their investigation raises more questions than answers. Eventually, the act of suicide becomes imbued with a certain venomous charm. A film that presents a profound and optimistic outlook on death.
Los Suicidas has obtained support from the Hubert Bals fund for script and project development (The Netherlands) and production support from INCAA (Argentina). |

Nathalie Cabiron was born in 1977.
After studying cinema, she launched her own independent production company, Tresplanos Cine. She produces low budget films with directors from her own generation: Saturday, by Juan Villegas (Jury Prize, Rotterdam 2001), Musical Chairs, by Ana Katz and The Bottom of the Sea, by Damian Szifron (First Prize and Fipresci prize, Mar del Plata 2003).
She is now working on first and second feature films: Los suicidas, the second film by Juan Villegas (Produire au Sud selection),
Like a Shattered Plane, by Ezequiel Acuna following his previous films: Nadar Solo and The Broken Woman, by Sebastian Faena.

Juan Villegas was born in 1971.
He studied at the Universidad del Cine, in Buenos Aires (scriptwriting and direction), then became assistant director on the feature films: Modelo 73 and Bonanza.
He shot his first long feature, Saturday, in 2001. The film was selected in Venice, London, Nantes, Göteborg, etc.
In 2002, he co-directed a short, A Happy Afternoon, with Celina Murga (Ana and the others).
Los Suicidas will be his second feature. |
