Official selection in Cannes Film Festival 2004

La Niña Santa was presented in the official competition in Cannes Film Festival 2004. It has won awards in Buenos Aires, Cuba, Chile, etc.

Born 1958 in Buenos Aires, Alvaro Urtizberea has produced for television, theatre, radio and the written press. He has acted in and edited numerous feature films.

He produced the children’s television program Magazine For Fai directed by Lucrecia Martel. In 2000, he and Ms. Martel created the cinema production company, La Niña Santa SRL.

Lucrecia Martel has directed numerous animated films, documentaries and shorts, including Rey Muerto in 1995 (selected for the Mar del Plata festival in Havana). She has also directed the children’s television program Magazine For Fai for Argentinean television.

In 2000 she directed her first feature length film, La Cienaga, selected at Berlin, Sundance, Toulouse, etc.

Ms. Martel is becoming a film maker of reference in Argentina’s current cinema renaissance. She was selected by Cinéfondation, at the 2000 Cannes film festival.
