South Africa - 2004

Synopsis: A young girl and her little brother who leave their village and set off towards town after the death of their mother. They face the dangers of the voyage and the pitfalls of the big city with determination. The film shows South Africa today through children's eyes, in a timeless story on the experience of love and friendship.

Julie Frederikse studied film production at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

She has produced a number of TV series, documentaries, commercials, radio programmes and short films with her company, Vuleka Productions.

In 2003 she produced The Sky in her Eyes, a short film by Madoda Ncayiyana, winner of the Djibril Diop Mambety prize for the best short film that year at the Cannes Film Festival.

She is also a journalist and a writer.

Madoda Ncayiyana is an actor and an author. He also directs films, radio and theatre plays.

In 2003 he made The Sky in Her Eyes, winner of the Djibril Diop Mambety award for the best short film at the Cannes Film Festival. My Secret Sky is his first full-length film.
